Sign 2000 Shades it for Sunglass Hut
Sunglass Hut has chosen Kent based Sign 2000 to handle the design and installation of new signage featuring the company’s new corporate image.
Sunglass Hut is part of the Luxottica Group, the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of prescription frames and sunglasses in the premium and luxury sectors. Included within the Group are famous names such as Ray-Ban, Bvlgari, Burberry, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Prada, Versace and Polo Ralph Lauren.
With such iconic names in the portfolio it is important that Sunglass Hut’s public image reflects the style and sophistication of its products. Sign 2000’s task was to achieve this with the built environment while at the same time ensuring the signage helped create greater brand awareness.
External signs are created using built up metal letters in lower case with LED halo illumination. The Sunglass Hut logo is a brushed stainless steel sphere also with LED halo illumination.
Internally, Sign 2000 utilised part of the shopfitting wall covering supplied to them prior to installation. The Sunglass Hut logo is routed out and letters are inlaid with 15mm clear acrylic faced with polished trophy aluminium to provide halo illumination.
The initial location was the retailer’s Reading Oracle Centre which was given the go-ahead just prior to opening. In just two weeks from the date of the order to the store’s opening Sign 2000 had to agree a specification, construct the signs and install them - which they achieved on time.
Subsequent installations have been carried out in Dublin, Kingston-upon-Thames, Stansted Airport, Reading, Manchester, Lakeside and Plymouth.
